I have been eating raw for almost 2 weeks and I have not made anything in a dehydrator yet - it should be here next week - then the fun begins :) I don't think I have had detox - if so it was that one headache that I had that day - maybe I haven't gone through it yet.

There wasn't anything in the book that suprised me - maybe that you arn't supposed to eat certian foods with other foods because of digestion time (ex. never eat anything with melons - always eat by itself) and maybe having to soak all nuts seeds and beans before you use/eat them to turn on the enzymes.

I have noticed that I am not as tired and I don't have to sleep as much. I tried eating bread and meat - just to see if I missed it, and I couldn't even swallow it - it was gross.

The only thing cooked(I think) or processed that I can eat without feeling like I have slight flu symptoms the next morning is dry plain oatmeal. I don't feel sick to my stomach but my head feels weird and so does my body (like the flu) Oh and I can eat salad dressings - those don't bother me either.

I slipped up about 4 days ago and ate a cheese sandwich and a whole bunch of Sunchips I felt like crap the next day :( I won't do that again :)

I haven't recieved my dehydrator yet so I haven't made any meals. I have just been eating the basic stuff (salad, fruits and veggies)

What brand dehydrator did you get? Have you also gotten a juicer? I have an all-in-one juicer, blender, chopper, food processor that has a million accessories that I bought a couple years back. I have yet to try the juicer part of it only because it looks like a hassle.
I can't wait to get my stuff!!

I just got my dehydrator yesterday :) its an Excalibur dehydrator - it was $179.99 from Alissa Cohen's site Rawfoodtalk.com - that is the cheapest place to buy it - I checked :) (I know THAT'S NOT CHEAP!!)

It has a thermostate and a temperature control and it is a lot better than the round dehydrators because the heating element is in the back not the bottom and hot air blows on all of the trays at the same time, so no tray rotation - so it takes a much shorter time for drying than the round models.

I don't have a juicer, but I do have a blender and a chopping/dicing, ect. . machine - I don't drink juice anyway :)

I am going to make these today - My first raw prepared meal :)

I got this from the raw food forum and it looks super yummy :)

Fajita Wrap with Smoked Jalapeno Cheese

Fajitas
2 portabella mushrooms chopped
1 red, yellow, and orange bell pepper chopped
1 banana pepper chopped
2 jalapeno peppers chopped
1/4 cup Nama Shoyu
1/4 cup of olive oil
2 Tablespoons of chili powder
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 teaspoon of onion powder
1/4 teaspoon of cayenne powder

Combine ingredients together in bowl and marinate in dehydrator for 30 minutes or more at 105 degrees.

Smoked Jalapeno Cheese
(I recommend only cashews, it gives it that smoked flavor, and I think it goes best with the jalapenos.)
2 cups cashews (unsoaked)
1 jalapeno
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon celtic sea salt

Put ingredients in food processer and blend till creamy. You might want to start with half the jalapeno and add more if you are sensitive to hot stuff to make sure it is to you liking.

Romaine Lettuce leaves (look for big leaves, the bigger the better)
1 tomato cut in cubes

Take romaine lettuce leaf, spread some smoked jalapeno cheese on it. Top with fajita mix, top with tomatoes, then ENJOY!

Its an aroma dehydrator I got it on amazon for $25 i think.

I wouldnt recommend it because I have no way of controling the temp.
It just has a on off switch. Im gonna get a thermometer so i can at least tell how hot it is.

Im goin to go get a food processor today because the dehydrated stuff is nice but its boring im gonna try to make some dips or something. I also need a Juicer especially in the mornings.

Maybe you'd want a quick and simple recipe for salsa...my BF loves this stuff.

1-2 cloves garlic
5-6 roma tomatoes (i love roma tomatoes)
1/2 to 1 small yellow onion
sea salt or kosher salt to taste
crushed pepper to taste
cilantro to taste (i generally go with about 1/4 to 1/2 cup)
juice of 1 lime (not lemon)
2-3 jalapenos (i always seed them because I don't like too spicy, plus the seeds are a nuisance)

I always put everything except the tomatoes into the food processor first. When everything is has been finely chopped, I will then add the tomatoes and even heat it up a little for warm salsa.

Maybe this will add spice to your fajitas (if you like more that is).

By the way, this recipe makes enough for a party. i don't think i've ever had to make less than that!!!
