We let our two go at it too - it's Canine WWF in our house when they get going!! I've always said that if one of them was hurting the other we would soon know - so far it's all been fun, fun, fun!!

DO NOT BUY GLASS STUFF
It's next to impossible to keep 2 boxers from playing "rough" Ram and Lex go running through the house, up on the couch, up on the coffee table. Good thing we have "puppy proof" furnature!

I say let them play. They need to do this kind of stuff to work through and develop their relationship. Think of it as bonding :) doggy style.

I let Ginger and Chase go at it too. They never get too rough..Chase is very verbal, which it cute..The only time I get in the middle it when Ginger is biting Chase on the ankles...

I agree - let 'em play!

My two sound like they're killing each other when they really get into it. But, as already pointed out, if one really wanted to hurt the other, he/she would. Mine rarely get scratched.

I love the analogy of canine WWF! Two boxers playing is EXACTLY like that--lots of tought talk and rough-looking moves, but it's all for show!

I say let them go at it. I have a Boxer(80lbs - male) and a Bullmastiff(100lbs - female). They eat, sleep, and romp. I think the best excerise a dog can get is from playing with other dogs. They get to work all their muscles.

I haven't actually gone to check....but I'm pretty sure I read in "Culture Clash" by Jean Donaldson that it is almost a must to let dogs play rough like dogs.

I let mine got at it, and draw the line at the ears.

:D We let Apollo and Phoenix play rough all the time. When they get tired of being so rough the sloww down a little. Then when they are rested it starts all over again.

I've got a Boxer and a Basenji....and I let them do their thing for the most part. And it's Jibini the Basenji who really doles out the punishment......Before anyone laughs at the thought of a 22 lb dog being "rough" with a 70 lb dog....well....he's a little spitfire. A personality a little like a Jack Russell Terrier without the constant frenzy :).

Anyway.....Sweetie pretty much takes what Jibini doles out, even though sometimes he will grab a whole mouthful of skin on her neck and PULL backwards as hard as he can. Sweetie enforces her limits- when Jibini goes too far she will let him know, and he will usually back off. If he's being a pest when Sweetie is clearly not in the mood to play- I will step in and make Jibini quit so that Sweetie can do her thing. And occasionally I will step in when one or both dogs seems to be getting too worked up or agitated....usually a loud "HEY!" gets them to knock it off, LOL. It can be hard to decipher when they're getting "agitated" because Sweetie always sounds like she's trying to kill Jibini- Jibini on the other hand is quiet and rarely growls at anything :).
