My concern is that he may be to rough or out of control.
Hahahahahah! I about died laughing when I read that. Sorry! :D You have a Boxer right?
Do *not* worry about Koby being out of control or a little rough. It's part of being a Boxer to be wild and crazy... as I'm sure you've noticed with Koby. I bet Koby will be thrilled to play with many Boxers. By all means keep an eye on him at the dog park, not just to watch out for him being rough but for other dogs who might be too rough for Koby's liking.
I wouldn't leash Koby inside the park for many reasons. Most importantly, the park rules prohibit it (and for good reason). Friendly dogs can become leash aggressive if they feel trapped or threatened. The other and more humorous reason is that Koby may accidentally "closeline" or lasso someone with the lead. LOL :D
The park has a double gate at the entrance. Inside the two gates is where you unleash your dog (so you aren't trying this in the middle of a pack of excited dogs). Also inside the gates is a doggie and people water fountain. Doggie bags are provided but they sometimes run out.
If you feel uncomfortable at any time, the other dog owners can be very helpful in corralling your dog. Plus there will be lots of other Boxer owners around!
Hope to see you there!! :D
