There is no reason that you need to avoid feeding homecooked and kibble in the same meal. That bit of advice applies to raw food only - and the reasoning is that the kibble slows down the digestion of raw to the point that the dog's primary defense against bacteria is nullified. This does not have any application to cooked food, however.

Thus, if you wish to feed both, you can do one meal per day homecooked and the other kibble - or you can mix the two together if you wish to. It really comes down to whatever you happen to prefer or find more convenient.

Great - thanks for the reply :) I really am ready to switch to homecooked, but with crazy busy lives sometimes wanted to make sure we could still do kibble without causing problems !

Thanks Again :)

I add homecooked to kibble and sometimes just do the homecooked. I divide the portion half and half.

I do home cooked and canidae. I was trying to switch to evo lg bits chicken and turkey but he got loose stool just from one hand full of evo. So now I am trying orijen with home cooked. No loose stools changing slowly only one bad night of vomitting the food up.

I add cooked chicken or beef and mashed potato to Luca's kibble. Mainly to fatten him up a bit, he's sooo skinny, also I think dry food for every meal must be so boring, not to mention dehydrating.

I started out with kibble for one meal and homecooked for the other. Both dogs took to homecooked and after a couple of days, refused to eat the kibble.

To save time, cook a huge batch of food and freeze. I dish up 2 days of food at a time and store in the fridge. It's quick and easy to pop in the microwave to take the chill off at feeding time.

We started giving Nikita some homecooked food and find that she doesn't want the kibble as much (we even changed to Canidae and she's losing interest). So it may have to be homecooked from now on!:)
