We brought Marlee home a month ago (at 8 weeks), and to be honest with you, I was bracing myself for a few sleepless nights, and some adjustment time. However, we were pleasantly surprised, and she has been a dream!! I don't know if it's just her, or maybe some of the things I've done to help her adjust.
She has slept through the night from the second night on. We put her in an X-Large crate with our other two dogs at night, so I think that has helped her sleep through the night, since she isn't in there by herself. She is also able to hold it all night until about 7:30 in the morning. I help her with this by picking up their water by 8:00pm and making her "potty" just before bed at around 10:00 pm.
To me, when you have more than one dog, and you crate-train them, everything is so much easier. She's able to burn so much more energy playing with the other dogs, than she would if we were playing with her. She's never alone, so she doesn't cry as much. And the crate training comes in so handy for helping them learn to hold it at night; to keep them from being destructive while you are away, or can't supervise them; and to give them a needed time-out once in a while, etc. I also have an exercise pen set up in the backyard for when we are away longer than would be comfortable for her to be crated. That helps to keep her out of trouble in the backyard, but she can also go potty when she needs to.
Anyway, good luck with your new little one Zoey!!
