Any D&D gamers here?

I have been invited to take a seat in a Dungeons and Dragons game next month. I have never played a RPG in my life and have no idea what to expect. Anyone have any helpful hints to get me through until my "Dungeons and Dragons for Dummies" book gets here?

I remember D & D when I was a kid and I'm 38 now. My mate's brother was well into it. Is it still going then?

My hubby and some his friends used to play a lot...but they played a variation on D & D. Same basic idea, just elaborated on it a bit. They still get together and play every now and then, just not as much. I even played a few games with them. It was actually lots of fun. I was skeptical at first...sounded kind of geeky I've been an Elvin Princess, a Vampire, a Monk, and a Pirate to name a few...

My husband and I play RPGs, mainly Everquest. Though we have played Guild Wars and World of Warcraft. Havent tryed D&D, though I have a friend who did and quit not long after.
