Another stupid question

I've had a lot of people think Beau is an American Bulldog or a Pit Bull. However, yesterday was yet another first for me. I had my boys at the park and a lady that works at one of the local kennels (she had a uniform on) stopped to ooh and aah over Beau. She said, "He's an American Bulldog, right?" I told her he's a boxer and she responded with, "Really? Are you sure?" When I told her that I was, she asked me "Do you have papers on him?" She wanted to argue with me over what breed MY dog is! What nerve! If she works at a kennel, she should at least have enough sense to know the difference between an AB and a boxer. Beau does favor an AB, but someone who has experience with dogs should know that he is a boxer. Needless to say, I won't be leaving Beau at that kennel! Why must ignorant people open their mouths?

Did you tell this lady..."Here's your sign!" (Love Blue Collar Comedy!) Some people. I once had a lady tell me that my Greta was not a boxer due to her having a tail...okay lady, whatever you say!

gotta love some people :rolleyes: ive never had anyone argue with me but i have had people ask me if hes a pit before. and i have had people tell me they are very mean dogs. and they also asked if he bites. i told one of my friends when she asked if he bit i said no he hasnt attacked anyone in a week. i got that from this site.. she just laughed...

You would think that someone who works at a kennel would have some knowledge of different breeds. I mean I don't work in any part of the Pet Community but I love dogs and watch all the dog shows on TV and have books listing all the breeds and their stats etc. I have to say I tend to know more about the different breeds than most of my acquantances but they are not into their dogs like I am. I don't own a horse but I know several different types and what they look like and how to ride properly. I guess its just what interests you. Maybe that woman only works at the kennel for a JOB, not because she enjoys it. I sure hope not. Anyway I don't get the Pit comment but with my petite female (48lbs) I usually get "She's a boxer?" I thought boxers were bigger. I end up going into the "Boxers are a Medium Breed" talk and quote their standards for female and male. It's funny but my female comes from Champion Lines and was going to be a show puppy if my breeder kept her. She decided to show the flashy fawn instead of trying to finish my plain fawn girl, which was good for us because we have her. We also had her ears cropped so other than a Dane or Dobi I don't think there are many LONG cropped ears out there. People are just too funny.

Haven't you all learned, Everyone is an expert. You should have asked if she was sure she was a woman. Really, that is kind of what she was asking you.

Elyse- Your too funny. I loved your comment on everyone is a expert. It is so true. I haven't received comments like that yet and hopefully the girl is just not working for the kennel for a job if so that's a shame.

Guess she just started at that kennel or they don't get boxers in there. I can see why!!!

That lady must not know anythng about Boxers or American Bulldogs. Beau is Boxer through and through! Now that I know you and Beau I can say that there is no way a person that knows anything about dogs could mistake him for anything but a Boxer, and a good looking one at that!! To bad I wasn't there. I probably wouldn't have been as diplomatic with her. See you on Saturday morning for the romp. I hope all 6 of the pups will be there this time! That was a lot of fun the other night!
