Hi, all, this is Whitney's husband, or DH, I guess. I hope you don't mind me posting under her username, but she desperately wants me to give ya'll a message for her. First thing is, we are the proud new parents to a bouncing baby boy born on 11/3/05. The delivery went pretty good, if a little long for her, but she was doing fine after Trey was born. That's the good news, and unfortunately there is some bad news. We agreed this would be our last child, so Whitney decided to have her tubes tied after our son's birth. The next morning, they did the procedure, and did a spinal block on her. First off, Whitney is VERY claustrophobic, and the sensation of not being able to move sort of made her panic, but they calmed her down and were able to finish the surgery. However, somehow a nerve or something got "nicked", we'll just say, and she lost most of ability to use her hands. It was mostly from the wrist down, and worse on her left side, and every now and then her whole arm would go numb. At this point, I believe out of sheer determination (and stubborness-don't tell her I said that), she's regaining most of the use of her right hand, but her left is still pretty limited. She is doing very well taking care of the baby- she has a very strong maternal instinct, I believe. And we're optimistic that everything will be back to normal shortly.
I wanted to tell ya'll this because I doubt very seriously she's going to be able to finish her Christmas cards and get them out to ya'll before Christmas. She'd mentioned to me the other day about wishing she could get on here and explain. But it would take her so long to type what she wanted to say, she didn't know how she'd do it, so I figured I'd get on here and do it for her. She IS going to send out the cards-that's what she told me, but it's going to take her a while longer. So maybe ya'll will get a Christmas card, say, in February-better late than never, right?

Anyway-Merry Christmas from all of us to all of you and your families!

Chuck, Whitney, Dylan, Cole , Summer, Trey, and of course, Boomer

Chuck, thank you so much for taking the time to explain to us. I am so sorry for the troubles your family is going through, but tell Whitney that we are glad that she is a stubborn-muleheaded girl that will surely be up and about in no time at all. I'm so glad that your baby is healthy and I'll be praying that Whitney continues to get better!!! And, I personally have no trouble at all getting a Valentine's/Christmas card!! angelicon

Honestly the Christmas cards means nothing when it comes to her health and well-being. I think everyone here is more concerned with that than anything else. Tell her we hope she gets to feeling better soon and congratulations on your wonderful baby. What a blessing it wasn't more serious and I'm sure she will be able to be back to her old self before you know it. Sending prayers out for a full and quick recovery and tell her not to worry about something like the cards, she can do that when she feels up to it, her recovery is far more important!
