an amorous pup..what can I do?

My 8 month old white boxer male wants to "practice" his procreative instinct on everything from chairs to blankets to us!!

He gets a little unhappy if you stop him... is it just something you have to expect or can something be done to calm him...anyone with experience got some advice I would be most greatful.

Have you consider neutering him? It would lengthen his life and make him less territorial as well... He is at the right age now...

I tend to think at 8 months it is pretty normal for any dog to do this sort of thing & that we shouldn't read to much into it.

BTW is you boy neutered?
Neutering him won't necessarily stop the humping thing, (our female is spayed & still does the humping thing from time time when playing etc. etc....), but there are many health benefits to go with it & I highly recommend having your boy done, if he is not already.

However I will say neutering a dog will not necessarily lengthen his life, it may help in preventing certain health complaints but I wouldn't go as far to say it will give him a longer life.
