Why are we allergic to Jersey? We have never been allergic to any animal before. We've had a dogs before her and were never allergic. The sneezing and itchy watery eyes and constant tiredness are really getting to us. At first Claritin was helping, but it seems it is not doing it's job anymore. And besides, why is it that we are allergic to Jersey and we weren't allergic to the other dogs? Even her saliva, if it gets on our skin causes a nasty red, bumpy, itchy rash?

This may be way out in left field, but is it possible that it's not jersey but something she plays with or eats? Maybe you're reacting to one of her toys or her dogfood. Are any of those things different from what you have used with your other dogs?

I am more allergic to my Isis than to any other dog... But I have noticed that the allergies have improved over time so I don't have long bouts of stuffiness/sneezing/itchy watery eyes. I use Benadryl every 4 hours when needed but now I use it almost never. Hope it gets better for you too.

OOh gutted. I dont do well with slobber either, so I try to avoid it. Hopefully over time you will build up an immunity to it. Or maybe get an allergy shot from your doctor, might last a bit longer than claratin :)

She has pretty much the same types of toys that Wonder had. (Wonder was a sheperd huskey mix.) She is eating Sensible Choice dog food, I mix it with warm water and some brown rice. We get her groomed about every 5 weeks. No really sure what is going on. Before I joined this board and learned about proper nutrition for her she was eating Purina One dog food. And she had a lot of dander. You could see it fly off of her when she shook herself out. Now that she has been on the Sensible Choice for the last 2 months, the dander is almost non-existant, but we are still sneezing like crazy. And then there is the saliva thing. I wish I could figure out what is doing it.

I don't think I could handle the benedryl, it would knock me out. Maybe I will check into shots at the doctor's office.

Hey, I just took a look at your gallery. I have never seen a boxer without the docked tail. Isis is so cute! Jersey is fawn, with a white chest and sort of black mask.

Thanks; she's very special to me and I wanted her just as she came so no docking! She's an old girl now, turning 10 next month!
