Hi cambridge, welcome to you and your wife.Glad you've joined us here.
Don't know about allergies, but as Boxers are shorthaired dogs, your wife may be ok.
Does she have the opportunity to meet any Boxers first hand?

Sound like I have the same allergies as your wife. Put me around a cat or long haired dog and i start to sneeze, my eyes start to water, etc. What i would suggest is contacting local breeders or a local boxer dog club and ask if you can come spend some time with their dogs. Sound like a funny request but most people i came across were more then willing. Not only did i find out that i was not allergic to boxers, I also gained a wealth of information from talking to the owners. Good luck!

I am also highly allergic to cats and dogs, but I can cope with a boxer (can't cope without one though!)

I sometimes take a Clairton, but I don't need one every day. I can bathe my boxer and play with him, but breakout with boxer kisses if I don't have some kind of allergy med in me. The dander and fur don't seem to bother me. Plus, you may want to look into dog vitamins. I give mine one that has been said to reduce shedding and dander and I seem to be doing great. Good luck!
