Hi! My name is Dana and I am a long lost member of Boxerworld. Perhaps some of my long lost web friends may remember me as being the mommy of two adorable boxers; Chelsie and Atlas from New Jersey. Anyway, I use to come to this board approx. a year and a half ago, but with all the changes going on in my life, I lost track of the board.
The reason why I'm posting is because I want ALL DOG LOVERS OUT THERE to know of a sickening and horrifying thing that is going on in the US and nationally! I want everyone to be aware of this because it needs to be STOPPED IMMEDIATELY and we, as pet lovers, need to come together and stop what is going on NOW!!!!! What I'm about to type below is the exact email I sent out to all my dog lover friends last night and when one of them emailed me back asking me to post the exact message to this board, I registered with Boxerworld, once again, TO SPREAD THE WORD!
WARNING........this WILL upset you! It is very upsetting and sickening!
While watching the 10 o'clock evening news this evening, I was appauld and disgusted over a news investigation report on Channel 11 (WB11 from New York) on November 19th on an investigation that they are doing in conjunction with the Humane Society of a so called "dog farm" (a/k/a Kim's Farm) in Upstate New York, owned and operated by Koreans. Under a secret surveillance, Mr. and Mrs. Kim are boarding dogs in VERY CRAMPED cages (approx. 5 medium size dogs in each cage), taking the selected dogs that are chosen for the day, killing them (not mentioned how) and burning these dogs to rid them of their fur so that they can sell the carcass. If this is not sickening enough, their paws are than cut off, thrown away, and the remaining carcass are then sold to Korean restaurants as a "delicacy" (one being in Queens, NY).
When confronted by the news reporters and the Humane Society, they (the Kim's) first stated that these dogs were "hogs" and once the Kim's were shown a video surveillance of clearly these so called "hogs" being dogs, they than said that they were "coyotes" and selling only their fur! Again, they were confronted about their conflicting story because the video surveillance clearly shows them burning the fur off of these dogs. Mr. & Mrs. Kim didn't comment any further and WB11 said they will give an update of this investigation ASAP! Note: The Humane Society took one of these carcass to a lab to be tested and it clearly came back as the carcass being a "domestic canine"!
After the report, the lead investigator news reporter (Polly Kreisman) stated that there are no laws in New York of selling "dog meat". It was, however, brought to the NY legislation on two different occasions, but was denied because they thought there was no need for it. WELL, I THINK THERE IS A NEED NOW!
Further, the Humane Society is looking into trying to prosecute these individuals for "animal abuse" since there is fortunately a law for this in New York on the grounds of how these animals are being treated, boarded and killed. Supposedly there is a "black market" for dog meat amongst Koreans and Asians and I think many of you dog lovers out there will agree with me that this "black market" needs to be STOPPED IMMEDIATELY!
While searching the web for a contact for the NY Legislation, the only person I found that can help (I think) is the speaker, Sheldon Silver. I think we all need to email this man personally and tell him to make it a point to pass a law forbidding such cruel acts to domestic animals! He's email address is:

Please, email the legislation speaker of NY TODAY! Hopefully if enough of emails are generated and our outrage is read, a law can be passed to save these poor dogs in NY!
