Boxer Pal
Hello everyone,
I'm glad to join this community as I took on a boxer last Summer 2009 from a friend who had relocated to Europe 2 years prior when Briseis was a year old and unfortunately my friends parents were unable to manage two female boxers, another that was 8 years old and at the time Briseis was 3 and a half.
I fell in love with Briseis the moment I met her and we bonded instantly - tons of slobber kisses and several scratches and claw marks as well. I am wanting to provide a comforting and loving home for my sweetie Briseis and am definitely still learning. I always loved the boxer breed and often times would dogsit for people that had boxers. The only difference was most of those that I dogsat were adults that had been trained.
Taking on a "teenager" boxer with some anxiety, socializing, and behavioral issues all I can say is it has been a journey. We've come a long way from her now getting her appropriate exercise vs before when the two boxers were given a quick access to the side patio to potty and maybe a short walk three times a week. Needless to say a lot of issues that needed to be addressed. But I'm getting there, I just need some support as sometimes I feel hopeless like nothing will ever work or that I'm not versed enough on what she needs to be completely just her and able to be calm in her own home. So I'm here and eager to learn.
Briseis is now 4 years and 9 months old, a dark brindle, with the cutest dark chocolate face and white paws and tummy. My cousin calls her white sox. She has a ton of energy and the few times I have left her at a doggy hotel for travel purposes all the handlers said that she is one of the fastest dogs that jumps higher than any dog they have ever seen. Not really sure if this is good or bad - but she's definitely a ball of energy.
Anyways - I'm not sure what these introductions are supposed to be like and I think I have written too much so I will stop with saying I am so grateful to find a support of fellow boxer lovers who I'm sure have been loving the breed much longer than I have.
Thanks!
