Well, the good news is that the effects of ACE are immediate and since Brittany did not react, she'll be OK. Some react some do not...but it's a bit like Russian Roulette....by the time you find out, it could be too late. Give Brit a big hug for us, OK?

There is no way I would have allowed a vet to use ace. I would have left. Keep in mind that just because there was not a problem this time, doesn't mean that there won't be next time. In fact I believe that the odd of there being a problem increase with time. I would find a new vet.

I agree with everyone. Please, please for your precious boxers sake - find a new vet!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any vet willing to risk your dogs life is not worth going to.

Jack is sceduled to get neutered tomorrow at Banfield . I got the info on ACE ( thank godness I looked on BW first I had no idea!) What else (besides not using ACE) do I need to be aware of ? I am so thankful to have all of you as a resource. Any feedback is appreciated !

Acepromazine is a pre-anesthetic and it's doesn't actually need to be used at all. It just make things easier for the vet. As an alternativie, they can use valium.
