He is not itching his chest, paws are not red, ears and eyes look really good, and stools are very firm. We are going to continue trying the switch to CORE and watching for all the symptoms of food allergies.

We've been taking some off leash walks lately in some wild grass/tree areas. I hoping he just had a reaction to some type of plant or he laid down on something that irritated his skin.

I am just very cautious with him because we had a bad reaction to Blue Buffalo when he was 4-5 months old. He had all the symptoms I listed above and the vet told us to get him on another source of protein and with no rice, corn & soy.

The grass you mentioned could be the source of the red bumps. Lola tends to get a red rash on her chest and belly during the spring/summer when she spends a lot of time laying around in the grass (and walking around in tall grass before we weed wack). Glad to hear the new food is agreeing w/ Bentley in every other way.

Oh just an FYI there doesn't have to be more than one symptom. If given gluten my dog JUST gets the runs. If given beef he JUST gets welts, if given lamb he JUST gets a rash in his ears, if given Rosemary he JUST gets blisters and a rash on his feet. all of his food allergies just have one symptom in very rare cases too, he never gets them all. So just because there is one symptom does not mean that it isn't a food allergy. I would stop giving him the food and see if it clears up and then start up again and if it reappears you know it's something in the food.

Very good info! thanks! when he was on blue buffalo he would get terrible ear infections and very itchy skin. I've got some of his old food California Natural Herring & Sweet Potato in case his chest gets worse or any of the other symptoms appear.
