WOW!!! My wife took Phoebe to be spayed and flipped out cause they wanted to use a choke collar on her and forbid the vet tech to ever touch our dogs in anyway. If a vet did that I would need to bail her out of jail:eek: she'd probably hit the vet

Im totally in agreement that this whole thing was WAY out of line. As boxers4life2001, I am also a vet tech, and I am studying to become a vet. surgeon. I could never imagine spending all this time and money to do something I love only to hit the animals I need to treat. What if it was a human doctor who spanked a kid??? Lawsuits, Child Abuse, the media would go nuts!!! I wonder what the vet does when thier animals act up.......

I have to agree with what everyone else has mentioned. The vet acted unprofessionally and needs to be held responsible for their actions. It is the vet and vet tech's responsibility to restrain the dog HUMANELY to avoid such confrontation. I am so sorry this happened to your baby. I hope you take the necessary steps to ensure this person doesn't hit any other patients.

YIKES! I'd report the vet!!

There has to be somewhere to report this vet's behavior, I wouldn't bring my dog to any Clinic or Veterinary office that feels that this is acceptable behavior. NO WAY!

Any person that would hit a dog in this way should not be let near any animals. I thank God for my vet and his staff, Seamus must feel like a king when he goes there, all the vet assistants kiss him and today my vet gave him treats and tons of love!
He even knocked the poor vets glasses of his face, and he just laughed and laughed.

My neighbors teenage daughter was in our yard last week and Seamus was nipping at her sneakers, her mother was in her backyard and yelled to her daughter that if he nipped her shoes again, she should kick him in the mouth and he would stop.

I immediately asked the daughter to leave my yard, and will not ever allow the daughter or the mother near my dog ever! TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE TO SAY IT, EVEN WORST TO DO IT!!

I totally understand your reaction and would have done the exact same thing. I am a completely non- confrontational person. Because I'm Canadian, eh?;)
I do a slow burn when I walk away from situations like that, then I get REALLY MAD in the safety of my own living room, then I calm down and either a) realize that I am over reacting to the situation; or b) do something about it.
I know you'll go with Plan B. Good luck and let us know what happens to the SOB if you ever get to find out.

Joni- i am SOOO proud of you for keeping your cool, I would have laid their a$$ out!!! no ifs and or butts, it would have taken everyone in the office to pull me off, but believe you me, i would get a hit in the face in first and i would have been like how do you like it?
keeping your cool was the best thing you could have done, meeee nope i can not do that :P
definitly report this person, you can also call the better business bureau and report the people, believe me it does work.

In my book it's not OK.
I can understand that the vet might have felt threatened but it is also HIS job to know, understand, and care for our pets.

I am not sure how I would have reacted: go off on him or leave speachless. But I know that I would not go back there!!!

I would definately alert your regular Vet ASAP! I would also write a letter to the Vets office and to the Board of Veterinary Medicine. This way if another incident happens the Vet has some sort of a record. I hope your baby is doing better.

OK this person does not need to be a vet IMO If they are going to be scared of getting bit then they are sending those vibes to the animal.

so exactly what i was going to say!!!!!
