JAKEY

Boxer Pal
Dear fello Boxer owners,

I have joined Boxer World because of a devastating experience that took place in our family over the holiday weekend. We lost our 7 month old male fawn, Jakey.

The story goes like this, we purchased Jake from a breeder xxxxxxxxxxxx in San Bernardino back in March. Jake was 2 months old, healthy, cute, full of energy and welcomed by our 4 yr. old female fawn Sammy and two teenage boys.

Last Thursday morning at 1:00 a.m. Jakey was sleeping in our room next to Sammy (as usual). All of the sudden Jakey let out a VERY LOUD moan without opening his mouth. My husband and I thought he was having a bad dream so we jumped out of bed and tried to wake him, he let out another moan, again without opening his mouth (his mouth was tightly shut and unable to open). As I moved him to wake (yelling his name in tears) he was already dead, he had stopped breathing entirely. his body was limp, his mouth was shut solid, and his eyes were open. My husband gave him nose to mouth CPR and his tummy began to elevate, when he removed his mouth from Jake's nose Jaked stopped breathing. My husband tried again and again to revive Jake. Jakey was dead immediately. No convulsions, no vomiting, no diarrehea, nothing in the days prior NOTHING! He was extremely healthy, 65 lbs., ran as fast as a bullet, jumped as high as a plane, ate like a champ and had the most loving disposition. Clean bill of health from his Vet 1 month prior.

My husband took him to the Vet and they conducted a Neocropsy (autopsy for animals). The vet found NOTHING, the Vet was a professor at Colorado State University and knew what he was doing. His stomach, intestines, heart, liver, kidney, blood flow, everything was perfect. Further, there was NO sign of poison. The vet simply said Jake had a stroke and lost control of his brain OR a cardiac problem that they could not find.

WE MISS JAKE SO MUCH, OUR FAMILY IS CRUSHED. HE WAS SOOOOO COOL. We don't know why Jakey was taken after only five months in our family. He was not our dog, he was one of our children. We live for our pets and we miss Jake so much, the pain we feel can't possibly be explained.
