A little worried..

I'm a little worried about J.C. Last night my youngest son tells me that J.C. took his piece of chicken. I didn't see him do it but I don't doubt he did it(I had stepped out side for a minute to put the garbage out). As far as I can tell, the only peice he could have taken was a small drumstick. I asked if they(both of my sons) could hear crunching noises when he took it. 1 said he did and 1 said he didn't. He obviously didn't choke on it. I am just concerned about how he will be able to digest this. Anyone else have this happen? should I be worried?

I can't give you much advice on this...hopefully someone else will be able to. The only thing I can tell you is that when I was very young and didn't know to tell her any better my grandmother used to feed my uncles Vizslas (sp?) all kinds of different bones when he wasn't around. (after they were cooked) I am in no way saying that this is acceptable or healthy but as far as I know these dogs never had any problems. Good luck and hopefully someone else will have some better info for you!

Hi Gary,
A month or so ago Oskar got a "hot" chicken wing- it fell out of the bowl after reheating them. In one gulp it was gone. I freaked out, talked to our breeder and watched him go potty like a hawk for 2 days! I neve say the chicken wing come out but I'm guessing it got digested. He was fine. I'm sure J.C. will be fine too. Keep an eye on himand I would suggest the smallest change in behavior call your vet and talk to them. Keep us posted.

It probably won't cause a problem. I would keep a close eye on his bowel movements and watch for any problems.

my guess is he'll be fine. You should however keep your eyes open for any potential problems. My mother has always fed their dogs table scraps and that includes all bones. She even feeds the turkey carcaus (sp?) after Thanksgiving. I don't agree and have never fed my pets cooked bones but she has done it ever since I have been around and I've never seen any problems with it at her house.
