Aside from going and spending $$$$ to get Boomer genetically tested (just not in the funds this year) I'm a little upset that I don't think I have a boxer..I have looked at most of your pictures and compared the best I can to the changes that he's going through and I must say I think he's either American Bulldog or Pitt...he is a white boxer and I had his tail docked just so he won't look to much like a pitt, because where we live pits are stolen and fought alot..
Anyhow, he's about 7-8mths now and he doesn't have the 'boxer wrinkle' on his face..his ears sort of pop out I guess like a pit and I'm so comfused. I saw both the parents and although it did seem odd at the time of their sizes (very large mother and father..talking over 100lbs) it's becoming more apparent that I don't indeed have a boxer...kind of makes me sad people say such a cute pitt and I'm like no pitt, boxer and they're just like ohhhh and walk off
IDK, am I crazy?? what do you think??

I'm sorry but I also see Pitt more than boxer. His ears aren't really a factor because some boxers do have ears like that, but his face looks more pitt than anything. I'll be anxious to see what others have to say.

There's something about the white boxers that makes everyone think pit. Harley gets it all the time and it was worse when he was younger. He'll be four in March. If you look in my gallery, you'll see pics of him at various ages. The one of him sitting on the steps is about six months. He really didn't get the boxer jowels until he grew out of the awkward puppy stage and his ears have always been more flyaway than floppy boxer. You can really see that in my avatar. He would get the opposite reaction, though, people terrified of him until I said, no he's a boxer.

I have more current pics on Photobucket that I can link to when I get back home, but I guess what I'm saying is just because he gets the 'what a cute pit' now, doesn't mean he won't grow into his boxer-ness later. Regardless, in the long run it's his personality that counts, not his genetic makeup.

I'm curious, though...Why did you get his tail docked?

dock because I have very shady neighbors and one kid saw him and wanted to know what he was..as a puppy with a tail he looked full pitt and my house was broken into shortly after when I had him at the vet for shots and what not..I'm positive it was the kids looking for him to steal because nothing was taken. So I figured the more i make him look like a boxer the less likely the idots down the street will mess with him...they aren't too dog savy

I honestly don't see a purebred anything in him. He looks like a mixed breed dog. I don't really see any boxer in him either. I'd call him a pit mix most likely. When you saw the parents, did they look like the "typical" boxer? I've seen some big male boxers but never have I seen a 100+ pound female boxer. I own a pit mix and his face is shaped similar to your dog. I hope it doesn't make you love your dog any less simply because he isn't a boxer....he's still absolutely adorable :)

we are dog lovers ~ period . We had pits when the Kids where young , BTW the are ALSO awsome family dogs. My sister has two great pits. friends have them , i have yet to meet one ( raised well, that is mean ) Sorry to say ( IMO ) u have pit mix ~ very nice looking puppy !! and bet he has a great personality ! dont love him less becouse he is not what u thought u where getting .

Docs told me my youngest was going to be a boy ! (well she is happy 16 YO red head ! go figure - she did where blue for a long time ! ) point is love ur bbay for who he is - NOT WHAT HE IS !

A friend of mine has a 100lb female boxer. She is a pure breed with papers from a breeder in KY. Looks just like any other boxer but bigger. It would be easier for me to believe a 100lb boxer than 100lb pit. Looking at the pics I would lean toward American Bulldog being in the mix. My breeder had the tail and dew claws done when the Rocky was 1 day old I though this was the norm. If I saw you dog I would not think it was a boxer but I am not an expert.

Oh no, Please don't misunderstand. In NO WAY do I blame the dog. I would never love this little guy any less! And yes I did see the parents the male was 120lbs brown brindle and mom was a fawn both had the black mask and whatnot of your typical boxer. But looking at pictures of ''white boxers'' online I think he looks more american bulldog mix..I have owned a pitt and I love the breed but he's simply not built like one body wise he's thicker and more muscular than a boxer but leggy like a bulldog..IDK I'm more PO with the 'breeder' i guess...and needed another opinion. Another thing that's changed about him. I have noticed with many of the people here that have whites, the patches of color seem to come in the same places and are simply larger patches of color.
Boomer has the one red patch on his neck but his back is spotted like a bulldog and his hair is SUPER thick down his back. A close friend of mine has a pure beautiful female boxer and her hair is so short it's as if it were painted on. Is it common for them to have thick hair?

His ears fly just like Cody's do, so I wouldn't say the ears would be a determining factor. Did either of the parents have white on them? You didn't mention it when you described them. His eyes don't scream pit to me and his nose is a bit boxier than other pit/boxer mixes I have seen. It really is hard to say just from pictures....as all boxers are not created equal and some full blooded boxers have longer noses.
He is awfully cute though :) no matter what he is lovicon .
