Boxer Buddy
All right, so I'll preface this by explaining Loki's behavior that led me to buying the toy. Basically, when I first brought him home, he was very cat-like. He would lie on his back and paw at things I was holding above him, he would hit things with his paws, and he would rub his side up against my leg, among others. He also really loved one of those spring cat toys with the fluffy ball on top that he played with at a friend's house when I brought him over. He also loves to chase things.
As a result, I got the idea to buy a laser pointer. I already knew that cats would go nuts chasing them, and I figured that, even if Loki was uninterested, I'd only be out a couple of bucks.
However, he was very, very interested. So interested that I had to keep the actual pointer in a drawer, because once he was big enough he'd start putting his head on the end table where I was leaving it and trying to get it.
He will literally chase the red dot until he's too tired to move, and it's hilarious to watch. It also tired him out tremendously in a very short amount of time, which means it's a great toy to play with on days where the weather is unsuitable to walk him, or on those rare days where I just don't have the time to do so. He'll be more tired after ten minutes of chasing that thing around the room than he will be after a half hour walk.
I whole-heartedly recommend that other Boxer owners give the laser pointer a try. Loki even seems to know that I'm controlling the dot (as sometimes he'll try to bite the actual pointer), but he doesn't really care since it's so fun to chase, and is a natural outlet for his prey drive.
