Ever since Susie arrived, these silly girls have been eating each other's food. Susie is on Nutro Natural L&R Adult and Maggie is on Nutro Max Puppy. But, when I fill the bowls and put them down on their respective tables, they ALWAYS switch partners and dance, as it were, and head straight for each other's food bowls and then they eat. So, Susie eats the puppy food and Maggie eats the adult food. They don't switch back and forth during eating, they just switch and eat the other's formula. Neither has exhibited any stomach upset from this "switch" and in fact, both seem to be having better stools. Go figure.
Now, if they were eating the same formula I guess I wouldn't have a problem. But I'm thinking that as these bags of food (I get 40lbs bags of each) are eaten, that I would then switch them both to the adult formula that I am planning on switching them to (Calif. Natural or Innova). Then they'll both be eating the same food.
Do you think 9 to 10 months is too young for Maggie to be switched to adult formula food? I have wondered if the puppy formula is too rich for her since her stools have always been kinda moist on this formula. She doesn't seem to be doing much "spurt" growing anymore, just sort of slowly growing bigger.
Any advice or experience in feeding two dogs different foods would be appreciated. Thanks.
