A Call to Boxer Lovers in MD DC VA areas

Just got back from the dog beach. I COUNTED 10 BOXERS THERE (coming and going-they were not all there at once). I told 3 owners about the upcoming bash. One owner with 2 white boxers said she heard about it! Zsara, have you been marketing? I refered them to Boxerworld Bash Forum for details.

There was one 4 month old boxer there playing in the water. It was so cute! She was trying to keep up with her big sister (another boxer). This couple said they have posted pictures of their boxers in the gallery here.

I think the earlier you go the better as Zsara suggested. It does start getting crowded around 1PM. We have noticed the last several times that hardly anybody goes into the off leash park anymore ---due to the afternoon heat, I suppose.

Hey guys,
Do you all think Chanz will be okay with all the big boxers at the bash. He is 3 months old but he is a really big, strong puppy. He's still a little intimidated by larger dogs. I just don't want him to get run over too much Were there any younger puppies at the last bash? If so, how did it go?

I think 3 months is kinda young...

At that age you have to consider whether or not she or he has had the correct amount of shots etc. That being said, you could keep your puppy on a lead to limit interaction that maybe too much....

I would ask your vet. Maggie would have been 4 months at the last bash (we didn't go because I was sick) and I had asked the vet before hand if she had had enough shots. He said as long as they've had all boosters and rabies AND it's been more than 10 days since they had the last shot, it would be okay. As far as being smaller than the rest, I was concerned with that too. I think keeping Chanz on a leash would be a good idea for his own safety. You know how crazy boxers can get!!

I think that most parks will not allow a dog in until they are 4 months or older because they will not have all the shots till then. i went and tracked down the rules for the annapolis park, here they are

Dog Park Rules

Persons who choose to use the Dog Park as a condition of use agree to the following rules:

Anne Arundel County is not responsible for injuries to dogs, their owners/handlers, or others that use the Dog Park. This area is for dogs and their handlers/owners only.

Dogs must be on leash and under control by their owners/handlers at all times outside of the fenced Dog Park.

Dog owners/handlers must respect the rights of others to use this area by maintaining control of their pets at all times.

All dogs must be healthy, vaccinated, and collared-with identification.

Owners/handlers must remain inside, with leash, within view and voice control of their dog's at all times.

Owners/handlers must immediately clean up after their dog's and properly dispose of waste.

Limit of two dogs per adult.

Toddlers and infants are prohibited from entering the fenced dog park area. Older children must be accompanied by an adult, who is accountable for their behavior and well being.

Dogs in heat and puppies under 4 months of age are prohibited.

No smoking or food within fenced area (human or dog).

Dog park gates must be closed immediately after entering or exiting the facility.

Excessive barking is prohibited. Dogs barking excessively must be removed.

Dogs showing aggression toward people or other animals must be removed from the park.

Owners/handlers must stop their dogs from digging and immediately fill any holes dug.

Only flying disc and tennis ball type toys are permitted within fenced area.

Only small dogs and older dogs are permitted to use the small dog area.

Being that Chanz is only 3 months old.....I think we are going to have to skip this bash. His shots are up to date but he has not had his rabies. He won't be 4 months old until August 4th and will have his rabies then. We really hate to miss this. Chanz and I are both really sad.:(
