Update on Buddy
First thank you all for your kind words, advice and prayers! There was a bit of confusion at the vets yesterday ( thanks to my husband, never let a man make an appointment LOL) but thank god I called to check on Buddy at 2:00, they thought we only wanted to try the monthly pill and not get the xrays and blood work. After talking in circles with the vet ( me not understanding why they gave him the pill if they didn't know how bad it was and the vet getting aggravated with me cause how is she supposed to know how bad it is if they don't take the xrays.... we finally got things straightened out so buddy got his Xrays and blood work. Unfortunately his heartworms are severe so the only option is the big, bad treatment. He also has something wrong with his liver, the count is supposed to be between 40-110 and buddy's is 490:( I'd also like to say that our vet has been more than accomodating, they gave us 20% off of the vaccinations and are allowing us a decent payment plan with no interest. After much discussion with my husband we are still not certain on what to do ( we have decided that if we decide that we can keep him we certainly will pay for whatever treatment he needs) In the meantime the vet is reluctant to try the arsenic treatment b/c of his liver issue so we are to bring him back for more bloodwork in two weeks, he has had the heartguard so no more worms will develop ( I guess). I am going to call the two boxer rescue organizations I found on the internet to see it perhaps we can foster him if they will try and find him a permanant home. Though we both admit that by the time that happens we will be so emotionally attached that we will end up wanting to adopt him. Whatever we decide I will not allow buddy to be put in a "cell", he will be in a loving, warm, boxer crazy home no matter what,,,,, he deserves at least that.
. I think it was meant to be that he found your house, he knew that he'd be loved and cared for. You have truly saved his life.
