a bit scarry

I don't post often but if you'll bear with me...
On my title you can see that I live in St Marteen tiny island next to Porto Rico. Well we have had rain for the past 27 month so the ground is pretty well saturated and yesterday afternoon a storm, the one that broke the camel's back. the water from the hill above us took the most direct route that is through my garage and my pool, it flooded the kitchen and my daughter's room and bathroom.there is quite a drop from my pool to my garden at leat 15 feet and the water was gushing over it as well as in the house. I had opened every conceivable valve I could for the water to drain it did help, the water didn't rise above11 inches. I am fortunate my neighbors have sufered worse structural damages. My daughter rose above her fears of storms and mopped for 5 hours ( she just turned 8 ).
What is bothersome is that we are in the midle of hurican season and the fat lady hasn't sung yet Argh....

Wow..how awful! We get thunder and lightning once in awhile and I think we are having a wicked storm!! You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers and here's hoping Mother Nature cuts you a break this hurricane season! Stay safe and please tell your daughter she is VERY brave!

I know how you feel! My best friends (twins) had 5 feet of water in their house one summer when we had a monsoon and the bayou near our houses ran over. It was just awful. I'm so sorry for you guys!
