A little under two years ago, I decided to give one of my girls to my Mother, up in Alaska. Mother was diagnosed with Alzheimers and I worried about her being alone so much. Mother loves her home of over 50 years and does not want to move nearer to her children, until she is forced to.
I was a little concerned that Flirt would be too bouncy for a 79 year old lady, but Flirt has exceeded my wildest hopes.
Flirt flew up May of 2006 and stepped off the plane like an experienced traveler. She immediately knew her job and adopted my Mother. They share the couch during the day for naps and the bed at night. Flirt watches out the window and lets anyone walking by know that a big (tough?) dog lives there.
Mother does have a dear friend that has moved into the house and helps out. He and Flirt have also become great friends.
I am up in Anchorage, visiting for Christmas and do love to see a true Boxer doing a job that is so important and showing just how great and intelligent the breed is.
