We are looking for a good home for our 9month old boxer, Sam. When we bought him, someone was always home for him. Now, my husband is working night shifts and I'm working days, so he's spending too much time home alone.

He is a purebreed, not neutered and has a scar on his tail from when the vet did his tail docking.

We're in Northern NJ.

Please let me know if you can provide him with a good home.

Thanks!

Do you have a contract with the breeder? If you do, you need to read over the contract. Responsible breeders have a return policy.

I would recommend contacting your closest Boxer Rescue group for placement. They carefully screen homes. You have an intact dog, which is a dangerous situation for his safe placement. If you need help locating a Boxer Rescue group in your area, please PM (private message) me.

Are you really sure you need to find a home for him based upon your working schedules? Someone is always home with him, which would make him (or any dog) happy.

I agree 100% with everything Sabrina Jay is saying. When you have an intact male, it makes it a little more tricky to try finding someone responsible enough to adopt him that won't try to stud him out.

Also just as Sabrina Jay said.... You said your husband works nights and you work days. Thats almost my exact situation which means one of us is at home with our dog. He's never home alone for more then 4 hours and that doesn't happen that often, if it does we get a pet-sitter. Is there another reason why you want to give him up???

I would call your breeder back or place him with a Boxer Rescue that will take their time in placing him in a good home.

thanks

Thanks for the warnings. I didn't even think of that Sabrina. We didn't get him from a breeder, we got him from a pet store. He's really a doll, and everytime I look at him, I don't think I can really give him up. I don't know what we're going to do.

I'll keep you all updated. Again, thanks for the advice.

I am glad that you are thinking it over--I am also in Northern NJ and my husband travels for a living and I work full time but we have worked around our schedules for Layla. If you are interested, I know of doggie daycares, dog walkers, dog parks, etc that may fit into your schedules. Good luck!

Info.

My boyfriend & I just recently lost our male 6.5 year old fawn boxer unexpectedly about 2 weeks ago. (They believe it was heart related). We still have our 4 yr old female brindle who misses him terribly & is wondering where he is....We have started to look for a new playmate for her because she is very lonely. Nothing can replace him, but a new brother would help ease the pain. (Both hers & ours) We would love to rescue someone & give them a good home. Can you provide any other information or pictures? Please let us know. We have someone home during the majority of the day & also at night, so that would not be a problem.

Thank you.
