She has had a few operations already to remove tumors. Not long after her last surgery last year a new lump started forming somewhere else. We had them removed from her mouth, ear and belly. Now she has one on her the fold of skin where her back leg meets her rib cage. It is about the size of a nickel and about 1/2" thick. She has a smaller one on her rear - close to her tail. That one is starting to bleed a little in past 2 days. She doesn't seem to be in any pain, is eating normally and is still very loving & playful. Although I love her like a child I cannot afford another $1000+ surgery and putting her through all that again. But I'm afraid she's suffering. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Oh, I'm so very sorry to hear about your baby. It must be a very trying time for you. Our babies are prone to cancer and I think it's the word everyone here knows alot about and also dreads. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm very sorry to hear about your girl. :( I've read so many posts here about tumors and cancer, it's frightening and always looms as a possibility for all of us. I can't imagine how hard this must be for you. I keep you and your sweet girl in my thoughts.

I am so sorry to hear about your girl :( Perhaps you could just discuss your concerns with your vet and get his opinion on what to do. I agree that her quality of life is important and it sounds like she has been through a lot poor girl. If she is eating and happy perhaps you just need to know what to expect. Whatever you decide you are in my thoughts. My guys send gentle boxer wiggles to your girl

I would talk it over and even get a second opinion 1000 dollars seems to be alot to me I had my Harleys spleen removed in July he only lasted 2 weeks but they were good ones and he could have lived longer but that only cost me 800 dollars and at first I wasn't going to do it but thought I would give him a chance for a longer life we didn't know the spleen had ruptured until he was having his surgery and had damaged his pancreas or he would have been fine for a while 2 to 8 months was what I was told and the day after surgery he was his old self again. My vet has removed lumps with just a local my friends dog who had cancer tumours lived for 2 years and then passed from other compliations nothing to do with cancer there are so many options I would try to get all the facts and then make a decision. I am having my Ruby's lump removed in 2 weeks. So I know what you are feeling I feel that is the right decision since she is 5 years old if she was 8 I think the decision would be harder.

I agree the cost seems rather high. Austin had a large tumor removed yesterday and the whole thing only cost me $615.00. But I also feel the quality of life is important. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Thank you for all the kind words

I am going to call the vet tomorrow. The tumor on her hind end is bleeding slightly. You don't even realize it and then find dabs of blood on the carpet. I actually found a 3rd one now - it's as small as a pencil eraser but it's there. She is such a sweetie. She seems to need more attention as if she doesn't get enough now :)
