Boxer Pal
hi all, would appreciate some feedback
Our 5 yo female boxer has always had a personality. If she's asleep on the couch and my husband or I try to use her as a pillow she growls and gets up to go somewhere else. We also have a 3 yo female boxer and they have never cuddled (cuz of the 5yo's behavior). We've never cared about this because that's just who she is. She has never bitten us or anyone. But the growling sounds pretty serious.
So now we have a 7 mo baby who's becoming more interested in the dogs. The 3 yo lets him do whatever. But the 5yo girl does not really let him close. If he tries to pet her she moves away immediately or starts growling. The other day she got up and gave him a bark on his face. Again. No biting at all.
I don't ever push them to be together, i.e., I don't bring the baby near them or force pets and if the dogs move away I don't chase them. Whenever they interact is on their own will.
What should I do? I don't think my Anya would ever bite my baby. This is behavior she has always exhibited, except a little worse. But I don't like it with my baby. I can't help but think maybe it was my fault cuz when the baby was younger I really wouldn't let the dogs come close, so now Anya is afraid. The baby is starting to crawl and I know he will get on her face.
Thanks all!
