Wow he's big to me!! Guinness is 5 months and 32 pounds...hmm...maybe Guinness is just small... his mom was 65lbs after two litters and from what I've seen his daddy didn't look too big either...Every puppy is different!!!

Aww Guinness is adorable ! He is kinda small for a male if he only weighs 32 lbs at 5 mos...but he might get a big growth spurt yet--you never know! Our 5 month old (he'll be 6 mos the 18th) is a moose, I swear! I said that's what we should have named him instead of Keno..haha! What kind of kibble does Guinness eat? We feed Canidae & absolutely love it (and so does Keno)

:)

He's all muscle though...tall and lean. Who knows, he gains 1.5 a week pretty steadily since he was a couple months old... God knows he eats all his food!!!!
Haha!!

He sure does sound like a big boy! :) he probably just had a growth spurt, i wouldn't worry too much. Boxers go throuhg lots of growth phases... some phases where their growth looks as if its stagnated, and others where it looks like they grow inches everyday. As long as he's eating, playing and doing all the normal healthy pup, i wouldn't worry. :D

ps. Any new pix of the pupper?

My Chooch (male) is 33 wks old and I haven't weighed him in a few months. I need to do this because it seems as though he's gone through a big growth spurt lately and is eating more. My question to you is do Boxers in general grow different than other pups. His dad was a big boy and I expected him to be much bigger by now. I don't care anyway but just curious. When do Boxers normally stop growing? I have the Boxer fever as well, I will never own another breed of dog! He's got me hooked!! I already want to adopt a companion for him. The funniest thing is when he runs in circles sideways in the yard. He's so quick and just a showoff in general. I have bought him several toys and it's hilarious b/c he keeps them in the same circle in the yard. I've never seen a dog do that either. He also loves to chew on sticks...LOL. He has a new one every morning. I've had dogs while growing up but I've never been so attached. As soon as I get home from work he follows me everywhere. Always wanting to horseplay...he also watches me constantly like a little kid and I have to ignore him many times if I'm busy. Very different from what I'm accustomed too with dogs! If I ignore him when I'm outside, he whines like a little spoiled kid. As long as he's touching me or I'm touching him, he's okay. When I'm sitting down and I tell him to "SIT", he sits on my foot or leans against my leg b/c he has to be touching me. HILARIOUS!! "What a Big Baby! Thanks for your feedback.

Hi Shane

Glad to hear your pup is doing well. i've only had one other puppy, a cocker spaniel, and he seemed to go through growth spurts too, but perhaps not as dramatically as my boxers. (perhaps since boxers are bigger, you notice changes more?) Anywho, i wouldn't be too worried about his growth spurts, he's only a little over 8mos, and he's still got lots of growing to do. He will probably finish growing in height by 1yr (and you can feel for his "growth plates".. like where his shins would be.. if they are still bumpy than he's still growing taller, if they are smooth, he's just about as tall as he will get), at that point, he will start filling out. Many male boxers don't fully *look* mature til they are 3, but usually between 2-3 is what they will look like fully grown and filled out. Hope that helps! ;)

ps. aren't Boxers the greatest! they've got the most personality of any dogs i've EVER met. its soo easy to fall head over heals for this breed. :D

I have to agree with everyone else, he is a big boy and probably will end up being a big boy..no problem. I recently got a show prospect pup at 5mos old. He was and still is very tall and long but still lanky and just comming out of the awkward stage. He is now 7 mos old and 65 pounds. The only foreseeable problem is that if you are doing conformation with a bigger dog the proportion issues are important, but I've seen quite a few "larger" boxers go on to finish. He already sounds like a wonderfully tempermented boy.....the most important thing of all.

My Copper is also fighting red mange right now and I was very surprised to learn when we took him to the vet for a check up the other day that he had gained 3 pounds in less than 2 weeks. Shocked mostly b/c he's tall and skinny not really bulky so I didn't see where the 3 pounds had went to. I was elated to know that he's thriving and healthy in spite of his bout w/mange. I'm told that that it's likely that he'll be a rather large boxer. His mom topped the scale at around 90 lbs and his dad at around 110 lbs. I was also concerned about his weight b/c of the fact that he thinks he'll forever be a lapdog and sometimes he'll jump up in our lap at full speed. This could potentially be a problem since we have a 5 year old daughter who right now weighs 53 lbs and is 3'11'' tall. She only outweighs our boxer by about 6 lbs.

Kat~ thanks so much for your feedback, I just want the best for Chooch and I overanalyze things a lot when I'm not educated about something. Also, naturally an impatient person which I constantly work on. I'm in sales so you can just imagine how impatient I can be at times. Thanks again and take care!
