Tyson was on pred for several months due to some GI issues and the panting was the worst the first couple of weeks when he was on a higher dose. Once we began tapering, the panting stopped. Make sure she has plenty of water. It does make them quite thirsty too!

Both of my boxers had panting/heavy breathing as a side effect of pred!

Update: We've now had 3 pretty normal stools. He only went twice yesterday (morning/night) versus the 3 - 6 times he was before. WHAT A RELIEF! I'm hoping this continues. I'll have to call the vet later this week and get a couple more weeks worth of Baytril. It seems to be helping!!!

Update: I took Tyson in yesterday. I got a week's worth of Baytril to try. She said I should start seeing results within 48 hours. If they do work, then I'll need to get a couple more weeks worth. He gets a tablet every 12 hours, so he had one yesterday evening and one this morning so far...

Thanks for the vibes. :) No, we haven't ruled that out yet, but the last time I was at the vet they said it was unlikely because he still has a full appetite, he's not vomiting and doesn't have any pain.

He's not improving anymore. :( He's losing too much weight. I'm going into the vet today to see if they can try Baytril. He seems to have most of the signs of HUC, and a friend of my fiance (who is a vet) recommended this. Fingers crossed. :(
