    Tumor

I appreciate your thoughts. This one was on the surface on his left forelimb and was quite visible. It looked like a cyst and all of the hair had fallen off of it. We weren't expecting an operation when we took him in, in fact my wife was expecting them to just lance it. We've become...

    coughing?

I believe so. Max was vaccinated against Kennel Cough but evidently K.C. is like the common cold in humans and there are dozens of strains and it is difficult, if not impossible, to vaccinate against all of them. That's what we were told anyway. The treatment was simple pills and...

    coughing?

When Max had Kennel cough it sounded like there was something stuck in his throat. He got it from the dog park. Evidently it's pretty contagious, but luckily it's very easy to treat.

    Tumor

Max had the tumor removed on Wednesday. The lab results were in today and our vet said it was benign and he had removed all of it. So, that's good news I suppose. Should I be expecting more tumors in the future?

I yelled at a fellow Boxer owner today

Dog Parks are interesting. We've been taking Max since he was dewormed and immunized so he is pretty well adjusted and has a pretty friendly disposition to begin with. When I'm at the park I keep moving. I walk the perimeter of the park and Max plays. A ball and plastic bags are in my...

    Differences in boxers noses

Thanks again for the help. I've been concerned about genetic predisposition to illnesses since the day our Vet said "Boxer". I guess in the back of my mind I've hoped he was a mix and that being a mix would somehow cancel out any consequences of poor breeding practices. We'll keep our...

    Differences in boxers noses

Thank you for your response gmacleod. It's funny having a dog and not knowing know what breed he is. I'm curious to see how he develops as he gets older. When he was a puppy he looked like pitbull, then we went through his rhodesian ridgeback look, and for a while he looked like a...

    Differences in boxers noses

Our dog Max has a longer nose. He is full of boxer characteristics from his stance, to his play, kid beaning, build, etc. AND he even had his first tumor removed today! (<-- humor). I found him in the street so I don't know his blood lines. Could he have been dumped by a breeder? Our...

    Tumor

We took Max in today and the vet removed a tumor from his foreleg. It was on the surface and looked almost like a cyst of some sort. Anyway, tests are being run on it so I'm sure I'll know more later and I haven't seen him since the operation, but I've heard he came out of it ok. I'm not...

    Why so expensive?

All of this breeding and BYB talk is rather new to me. Up until I found my puppy after nearly running him over, I had only had mutts as pets. I found Max at 8 weeks. Our vet informed us that he is most positive that he is a purebred Boxer. Well, that's great, but I'd feel more comfortable...

    Boxer swallowed chocolate cookie

At about 17 weeks old our puppy hopped up onto a chair, then onto the table, jumped to the counter, opened up a cupboard, pulled out a bag of halloween candy, and by our estimation, his count was: 4 fun size almond joys 3 fun size hersheys milk chocolate 1 pack of starburst, wrappers included...

Creative ways to mentally stimulate Cassius?

15 week old Max snags the TV remote and mashes the buttons with his paw to watch the red light flick on and off.
