My 3 year old Boxer, Daisy, is anemic secondary to severe renal insufficiency. I'd like to know about any and all treatments for the anemia, especially using the holistic approach. I know she can get injections of Epogen from the vet, but I'm interested in knowing if there are other supplements...

i agree!!! segbert is right...it's a crapshoot when you get a dog from the shelter. i'm all for it, but you never know what you will get. you may end up with high vet bills and if you can't afford this i'd find a local boxer rescue and adopt a dog you'll get a bit more info about. again...no...

insurance if you search "pet insurance" on the internet you'll find tons of info. i got Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI) for my 2. Just filed my 1st claim so i can't say how it works yet. i know if they refund what they say they will it'll have paid me back 1/2 of what i paid in premiums already...

kidney failure i have a 2.5 year old female who had tests showing she had kidney failure. i will find out in about a month if it is permanent (chronic) or was due to an infection/illness of some kind (acute). some important info...the kidneys must lose close to 75% of their function before it...

this is to funny...i do a lot of these things too! i must confess i put suntan lotion on the white part of Cass's nose and chest otherwise he gets sunburned!! he licks half of it off but i think it helps some!!!!!!! :D
