My vet said acne is common with boxers and other dogs with short hair and jowly muzzles. She also suggested ingrown hairs. My guy had one that got so bad that it turned into a growth and had to be surgically removed. But hopefully all you are observing is puppy acne!

One thing you can do on your own is be vigilant about lumps and bumps on the skin - pay your dog down specifically for these every month or so. As we all know boxers are prone to mast cell tumors - many of which can be removed and are basicaly harmless, but others that arent.

Do you know what Stage/Grade the tumors are? If they are Grade II or below, she could live for a long, long time to come and be perfectly normal, just with a few bumps on his skin. I just lost my 6 yr old to mast cell cancer, but his were Grade 3 - basically uncurable and very aggressive...
