Doja's Mommy

Boxer Insane
I'm just curious.... Doja is turning 2 on Friday, when she goes to her next check up... Does anyone suggest, or can we do any extra testing, or extra steps we can take to make sure her heart look goods, make sure she doesn't have anything extra inside that she shouldn't (masses). Just wondering if we can detect anything extra early. I know a lot of poeple don't discover these things until later on, and I would like to know as soon as anything is detectable to try and help her before anything bad happens. I don't know if this is even normal, or something we could do. Maybe I'm just paranoid. I don't want this sort of think to hit me like a brick outta the blue.

I was just thinking, maybe an chest xray (if can be done without anesthetic) .... or suggest that the vet pay extra special attention to her heart.....

I wish there were 'Boxer Vets' that specialized in boxers only.

Maybe you guys can tell me from experience, did you have any 'what ifs', when it came to this sorta thing.... 'what if we had done this', or 'what if we had done that.' I want try and cover all the 'what ifs'

I think we would all like to do that in life. ;)

I guess you're talking blood tests, full body x-rays, stool tests, urine tests etc... The list could go on, & become very expensive, but if you want a full MOT done on your furbaby, I'm sure your vet won't say no. $$$ ;)

One thing you can do on your own is be vigilant about lumps and bumps on the skin - pay your dog down specifically for these every month or so. As we all know boxers are prone to mast cell tumors - many of which can be removed and are basicaly harmless, but others that arent.
