Proud. How long did it take to potty train your boxer?

To be fully trained and fully reliable to only go outside? About 10 to 16 months. But all dogs are different as well as their owners. Consistency and routine is key.

Way Too Scared for Me to Deal !!!

Actually, it's not crazy if you're buying from a reputable breeder who has spent countless dollars training and titling a dog; doing all the appropriate health testing, etc...These breeders barely break even. It's not just about sticking two dogs together who are "purdy and are real sweet".

Way Too Scared for Me to Deal !!!

THANK YOU. Price is the last thing you should look at with regards to quality - let me see those titles, health tests and bloodlines, first, thank you. ;) jagresti - as an owner of a fearful dog, I can attest to the time and patience it takes to help your dog. But it can be done if you stay...

    Puppy mealtime aggression

I fully agree with Jan. Feed them farther apart, crates are a good idea and are easily cleaned. I also agree that no good boxer breeder would have sent two female puppies - litter mates to boot - to the same home. I would read up on litter mate syndrome and bitch fighting, and then either...

    Boxer/ Mastiff confusion any thoughts

Why do you say "unfortunately"? APBT's are amazing dogs...I don't think it's unfortunate that boxers are somewhat related.

    BYB vs. Professional

Answers and references are great - but even the slickest of byb's can produce them. I find the real back peddling and excuses come when you ask for hard copies of the health testing done on the sire and damn. ;)

My puppy wants to bite me and eat everything

Teach her bite inhibition and pick up the cat poop. Puppies explore their world with their mouths - so it's up to you to teach her how to use it appropriately. Teaching Bite Inhibition | Dog Star Daily

    BYB vs. Professional

SO true. Many puppy mills and greeders sell pups for these prices - and the term "professional" breeder makes me think of these types of folks and the $$$ they rake in off uneducated buyers. It's pretty sad. Responsible, reputable breeders barely break even on the litters they produce.

    Witching hour

Dominance isn't about showing who's boss - A dominant dog is a dog who wins a contest for a resource. If there is no contest, or resource involved in the humping, then dominance does not exist. The more likely explanations for humping are, the dog is a puppy and he's practicing the skills...

    Witching hour

This type of thinking is a little outdated. ;) Mounting has nothing to the urge to "dominate" things or people. And more times than not it has nothing to do with mating either so neutering won't necessarily help either. It's usually an adolescent response to being over excited or not knowing a...
