    dominance

He was requiring only a hand on the side to direct him, he always has a treat in the kennel, and acouple of his toys. Baxter has never had to be in there very often. I work nights so am home most of the time. I have had him in bed with us at night, I"m told with assertive dogs that this is...

    dominance problem

I am having some problems with my eight month old male boxer. I know it is typical at this age to "try" you at this age but , he is very aggressive when I go to crate him right now. ( serious biting) I have been told (vet, reading, behavior people in Mass.) to be more physically assertive...

    Boxers and Children

reply breeding comment So glad to hear your opinion on breeding, I was blown away by the people who were interested in Baxter for stud service. Most didn't know anymore about breeding than I did. Like you, I feel that it should be left to those who know what they are doing. Baxter is very...

ears, boxers and children Eric J You are right about the "standard", when I relooked at the info I had, it indicated that a lot of judges don't mark off much if any if the dog meets the rest of the standard. We are not breeding or showing so thats as far as I looked. There is a section...

    Boxers and Children

You might want to check about cropping ears required for show, i don't believe that it is a requirement any more. As far as children with boxers, we have our first boxer, he is 6 months old. Baxter is great with our girls, they are 9 and 11. But, he is very energetic and when my friend...

    cropped or natural (Revised Poll)

cropped ears Baxter has natural ears, the breeder does not do the ears anymore. He does dock the tails. I prefer the natural look, if Baxters tail had not been docked, I would not of had it done. We saw a beautiful brindle boxer, tail and ears complete, in town. He was a really sharp...

    He doesn't like his crate

DOESN'T LIKE CRATE EITHER BAXTER IS ALMOST 5 MONTHS AND IS ONLY CRATED WHEN WE ARE NOT HOME TO SUPERVISE. HE STILL IS NOT LIKING IT WELL, (PUPPY DROOL, AND VERY SAD) I CAN'T SEE A SOLUTION, WE ARE NOT GONE LONG PERIODS (4 HOURS IS A MAX!) I WORK NIGHTS SO HE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE CRATED DAILY...

    Bath time? How often?

Bath time Baxter is 4 1/2 months old and has had 2 baths, mostly so he gets used to being bathed. I thought that it would be easier to handle him at 30 pounds and get him used to the idea, than to wait till he was bigger and really needed one!
