First let me echoe the welcome. If you do end up getting a Boxer, you'll find that this site is an invaluable resource.

Secondly regarding docking and cropping, there are members here that have long tailed Boxers, and I'm sure they can tell you about what it's like to have one. Truthfully I can't imagine what it would be like for my two not to have their tails docked. When they wag their little nubs, which they do all the time, they do it so fast, and with such enthusiasm that I think anything that might be behind them would be knocked over. I would guess that the original reason for docking goes back to the origin of the breed. If your going to show your dog then, I guess, you should have the ears cropped, but even then, if I'm not mistaken, it's not a disqualifying fault. There have been, and are, champion Boxers that do not have cropped ears.

Thirdly regarding Boxers and children, as Tulsa Dan said there are plenty of links using the search button that will lead you to many responses. One of mine can be found here
http://www.boxerworld.com/forums/sh...59&perpage=14&highlight=children&pagenumber=2 . This was written before we got Marcie, and as is obvious, Dempsey was such a success, we did it again.

Good luck in what ever you decide.

reply breeding comment

So glad to hear your opinion on breeding, I was blown away by the people who were interested in Baxter for stud service. Most didn't know anymore about breeding than I did. Like you, I feel that it should be left to those who know what they are doing. Baxter is very pretty, (yes I'll brag alittle) but it seems that there should be more to it than that! lol:) Baxter was fixed last week and is doing well!
