Zander turned 6 months on christmas day. All of a sudden about a month ago I am having a problem getting him back in the house after i let him out. Its not that he leaves his own yard or anything at home, but i just cant get him back in. At my parents house if i let him out the front... he leaves and tries to run out on the road... but that was quickly fixed because they have a fenced in back yard. But back to my/my boyfriends house...

I have another dog shes 2... a rot/pit mix. I used to let them out together but they never did anything but play so nohting was accomplished. I started letting them out separately. When i let zander out sometimes he comes right back in. but there are days where he will try to make me chase him around the yard and then run and sit really far away and stare at me. Ill go back in the house and watch him through the kitchen window. Sometimes for 15 -25 minutes at a time he'll just sit there and stare at me in the same spot and same position. If i go outside and try to get him in after this he goes farther!!! So my first thought was to get Maddie and put her outside so he'll chase her back into the house. This worked well for a lil bit but now he caught on and stays in the yard while Maddie goes back in. My next choice was to go for treats and throw them out on the deck to get him to come back to me. This also wore off after he caught on. I absolutely do not want to chase him because i know this just encourages his bad behavior. But ignoring him for 20 minutes cannot be any better right???

Sometimes he does the very same thing in my parents fenced in yard. And this is not the time of year in pa for a white dog to be playing in the mud. This morning my boyfriend called and said he chased Zander around the yard for 20 minutes before he caught him and then he was a mess. (he doesnt know my tricks with maddie or the treats so i informed him right away). the last thing i thought of was to take treats outside with my while he goes and then that way he knows to come back because i have them... this kind of works and i never give the treat untill he is back in the house with the door closed. Aside from this ... does anybody have ANY suggestions. He knows the come command very well since 6 weeks old... and all of a sudden hes defying me. some help would be great!

The only problem i had with the leash is that he pulls and wants to play tug of war with it when i take him out on it and then he wont go! other than this time hes good on a leash. i guess its a boxer thing lol
