Last year was Bugzy's first christmas and boy, was it a experience. He would go to the opposite side of the room and get a running start before charging the tree! Then after assulting the tree, he would bite the branches and pull back. It was like his mission to destroy the tree. We ended up putting chicken wire all the way around the tree and arranging chairs to stop him when we were not there. Were hoping, since he is older this year, to get rid of the ugly chikcen wire! The whole thing was hilarious and everyone that visited our house commented on how "lovely" our tree looked with the chicken wire!:D

Thanks

We just got a boxer puppy and decided not to get a tree because of that reason. NOt that it would be a HUGE deal its just one less thing fo rhim to get into. Thanks for your info as it helped to make it an easier decision. Happy Holidays to all!!

I guess we are lucky. We have a bajillion beautiful glass ornaments on our tree. Lots of sentimentals and collectables, many where gifts. So far neither one seems to give a fig about the tree, (knocking on wood). But they are curious about the presents under the tree. Gunner just stands like a statue and stares at them like he is waiting for them to "do" something...lol.

Mason hasn't figured out the whole indoor tree thing. Last year he left a present of his own under a friend's Christmas tree and this year he walked into another friend's house and peed on her tree! Maybe I'll get a fake one!!!smashicon smashicon

Completely Boxer Crazy
I have a new toy this year. It's a train that runs around the tree. Remember the Island of Misfit Toys from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer? It has those characters riding on it - like Hermie, the elf who wanted to be a dentist. Well, surprisingly, just having the train there seems to dissuade everyone from bothering the tree. My foster dog, SuperStar, batted it off the track the first time it went around, but everyone has left it alone since then. Eureka!

When we got our first boxer pup, we weren't to sure how well she would do with a tree so we put the tree in our son's playpen that he had outgrown. It worked great, she never once tried to bother it :)

since this year was our first year with a real tree and the boys, i bought a doggie playpen to keep the boys away from the tree. it's one of those collapsable 8 panel fences that's meant to be a playpen for dogs - we just put it up around the tree, which not only keeps the boys away from the tree and tree water, but also away from the presents:)
