There have been countless threads on how misunderstood our beloved breed is but I believe this one ranks in the top 10.

Yesturday at our son's football practice we decided to bring Creed along. We got the usual fearful stares (as if we were walking a rabid alligator through the park) of the uneducated. But there were a few parents who were more than willing to let their child come and get licked all over their faces by our wiggling beaning bundle of joy. We even had a guy stand about 10 feet away, wait his turn so to speak to come let us know that he also had a boxer and how great they really are.

But the end all to beat all-One of the wanna be team mom's came walking by pushing a stroller with a 4 or 5 yr. old in it (about 10 feet from us) at the same time someone decided to kick a soccer ball past her. Well Creed being a boxer thought that was an invitation to play and jumped a little bit. She screams "Don't eat the baby!" "Don't eat the baby!" I couldn't help but burst into laughter. I thought it was just hillarious. Probably not for her but the fact she thought I would bring a baby eating canine to a park full of children. I tried to explain to her that he only wanted to chase the soccer ball but she ran away as fast as she could looking behind her the whole time. All I could think was you poor woman, you just don't know what your missing.

That is pretty funny....And the sad part is those kind of people never have pets...and then their children suffer because of it :(

Look on the bright side....Neither does the poor animal!

My next door neighbor has young children and she reacts the same way. Mercedes is 50 pounds, and is full grown, she has always been a petite boxer. When she was six months old, my neighbor saw us walking by and made the comment "there goes killer", my husband responded to her by saying "this is a harmless puppy!" The really sad part is......she is teaching her children to have a phobia of dogs.
BTW, When we take our fur kids to the park, they chase wandering balls too! Two of there favorite things in one place!!
Children and balls!:D

Sometimes I take Rowdy with my skin kids to a large wooden playground. There are usually 100-150 kids there on any given afternoon. I like to see the parents reaction to Rowdy. And then I like to see their reaction when he sits and lets all the kids pet him while he licks them. It educates alot of ignorant parents and I don't force my dog on them. Being a public park, they can't demand that we leave as long as Rowdy is on a leash and behaving. Besides, there are usually 10 or 12 other dogs there at any given time.

That is to funny, As if you would let your dog eat her baby, some people are so strange they think all large dogs are so mean.

Lets face it and it's very sad but, not everyone is an animal lover.
Boxers can look very intimidating. That scares a lot of people who don't know the breed. Maybe they have had a bad experience with a dog, such as a dog biting them.
