We've had 3 boxers in our family since my niece/nephew were born. all three dogs have been there to protect those kids (and us) since day one. IMO boxers are the best breed, they're friendly, sweet, protective, and the best friend you could have (you'll understand what I mean when you have a bad day, they're a shoulder to cry on and they just look at you with those big sad brown eyes).

Enroll in all the obedience classes you can and get lots of social interaction--boxers love to go everywhere you go.

Just a warning, but rude comments will come from uneducated ppl who think your boxer is a pit, is vicious (even though it's a puppy) and they think they know everything---which they dont. Just be firm and tell them the facts about your pup--and dont let them get under your skin.

I have two old Boxers lying with me right now, and I can't think of anything better. They're fantastic dogs when they're young, and only improve with age! I guess you could say they're like fine wine :D

The only mean Boxer I've ever known was mean from the time she was a puppy, and didn't make it past 2.5 years old. She was indeed a victim of inappropriate treatment, she was beaten and kicked by her breeder.
