We just put in our adoption application with Second Chance Boxer Rescue & they confirmed that they've received it, so we're on our way! We will be starting the interview process soon - can't wait! I know we aren't approved (yet!) but I'm just so excited to get the ball rolling. :)

Hi I live in Maine, and FINALLY got a response from Second Chance....the ball is rolling now.....we've sent our vet info and references, and now the wait for the next step...Good Luck to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's almost official: I've gone through all the steps with Second Chance (application, phone interview & home visit) and I've been told to get in touch with the "match-maker" so she can match us with our dog! I'm SOOOOOOOOO excited!

It won't be for a few weeks (we're going out of town & I want to wait until we return to bring our new family member home) so I have a lot to look forward to - and prepare for!

PS - I can't say enough great things about Second Chance Boxer Rescue - what an incredible job these people do! Highly recommended to anyone looking to adopt in the Northeast! :)

Great news, Paula!! You are so right about SCBR - I posed a question about one of my dogs on another message board, and one of their members was kind enough to call me from out of state with some helpful advice. Let us know when you get your new addition - Cathy

I started the adoption process with Second Chance, did the phone interview and all that, I think in comparison to other rescues Second Chance is by far the best....I had to put my adoption on hold for the near future though, my husband found a boxer puppy for us. I hope all goes well, and you get a dog who is worthy of you.....I commend you for going the "rescue" route. I wish you all the happiness you can find with your upcoming family member. WOOHOO!

We're all set to adopt Bubba, a 6 year old brindle male with natural ears. I'll be calling his foster mom today to iron out the details (contract, when to pick him up, etc.)

Initially, we were hoping for a younger dog (around 3 or 4 years old.) But it really seems like he'll be a great fit in our home. We have 2 cats, as well as young nieces who visit often, so we had to make sure our dog would be OK with all of that. According to his foster, he's extremely well behaved, knows & obeys several commands & is friendly with people and other animals (I guess I just described a typical Boxer, lol!)

And besides, 6 year olds need good homes too!
