So, Daizy discovered her kong with peanut butter 2 days ago and the peace and quiet is awesome! I never knew she would enjoy it this much.
Here's my problem though-she know's where the peanut butter comes from! When she manages to lick it all out, she takes the kong and stands by the kitchen counter. She'll stand there and beg for more nomatter how much we tell her no! How much peanut butter is it okay for her to have and is it okay to just use regular people peanut butter?
She's 16 weeks old and just hit that point where she has ssooo much energy, sometimes I just don't know what else to do with her!

Have you tried freezing the kong with the peanut butter in it? It takes them longer to go through it that way.

I try not to give this to Abbey too often because peanut butter has so many calories and it really doesn't keep her occupied that all that long for what she is consuming. I use a natural organic peanut butter that doesn't have all the additives in it. It is a people peanut butter though.

I don't know how old your puppy is, but have you tried a bully stick yet? Abbey loves those and they keep her occupied for much longer and she isn't "eating" as much so I'm not as worried about her eating "too much."

I love the idea of freezing the kong. I also read that some people mix the peanut butter with a little water and freeze it in ice cubes befor putting it in the kong. I might try that.
Also what is a bully stick and can I just get it at Petsmart?

I give Zeus a frozen peanut butter kong stuffed with his kibble, as well, before I crate him and leave for work. He loves it! I clean the kong out each day when I get home and stuff it and freeze it for the next day. You could check the kong website for additional recipes.

Regular peanut butter is fine, if it's good enough for you or your kids it's good enough for your dog, it's not necessarily bad for the dog but the calories can make the dog fat if given too much. You definitely have to regulate how much they get. You can tell by your dogs appearance if you need to cut back or not.

The frozen peanut butter kong is a great idea BTW, they get right through the non frozen peanut butter kong.

We usually give a frozen peanut butter kong to Lexi 2 or 3 times a week.
She loves it. Freezing definately makes it last longer.

A bully stick is a dehydrated bull penis. You can get them at PetSmart however I don't advise it the ones I found had garbage on the outside of them and some were fake in that they were just by-products and flavorings (basically nasty "beef jerky" if you want to call it that). Personally I get mine at www.bestbullysticks.com as they are reasonably priced, natural, and my colitis dog doesn't get sick off of them (which is a miracle in itself). They're digestible and are not rawhides.

On the kong recipes, you can do a search online or look on the Kong website. There are TONS of recipes for Kongs, frozen and non frozen with just about anything imaginable.

You can also try a treat ball and/or a raw meaty bone (heck my boy was chewing on this for a good 5 hours yesterday!).

Good luck!

My dog loves banana so I usually use very ripe banana and put it in the kong, freeze it and he is in paradise for a while.

You can try putting half of a dog treat (cookie) in the kong after the peanut butter. This works for me so far.
