Punch is a cutie and I noticed he has his tail. Do all boxers in Ireland keep their tails?

Ear cropping and Tail docking are illegal in many countries now. But not here in the US, yet. I believe in Europe it is illegal. I happen to like the docked tails, but love the soft look of floppy ears. I also think the cropped ear give them a regal look, but wouldn't do it to my own dog - too much work and upkeep, and couldn't handle thinking they were in pain. Tail docking I went through with my rescue boy at 2 yrs old. Never again will I put a puppy through that pain. And have seen some horrific chop jobs by some irresponsible breeders - I live in Puppy mill country, so I know the Amish use scissors and garden snips to crop. Lily has a bad dock, one vertebrae in her nub. I know some say they don't feel it, but they are stoic and don't show much pain so how do we really know? Boxers aren't doing the jobs that they were originally bred for, so there is no need to dock and crop.

I love seeing a boxer "au naturale". Tails and floppy is my preference now.

Living in Ireland I have never seen a Boxer with cropped ears I don't think its done here.It is illegal since January 2013 to dock a tail and if you do happen to have a dog with a docked tail that was born after December 31st 2012 you are not permitted to enter any shows..
I myself love the little nub on Roge then I reckon that if he had a tail id love that too..:)

Thanks much for your replies. I love the floppy hears too. I've never seen a boxer here in the USA, other than in pictures with their tail. Our firl has a nub but as you said, I'd love her with a tail too. That little Punch has an adorable face...could just smooch that little face over and over.

I too always get another dog quickly after one Goes to Rainbow Bridge because our house doesn't seem like a home without a dog in it.

Punch is my first time seeing a boxer with a tail. I do like the look of the little bud but a tail makes no difference to me, possibly later when he grows I will be in for some hard lashings from his tail lol.

He got his all clear from my vet today and got his vaccinations too, he slept for an hour aftwards but hasn't stopped pounding and bouncing about since.. He is so active, with a sharp little bite, it's been so long since Tyson was a puppy I forgot how big a handful they are, but definately worth it for sure. Once I start potty training him at least my house wont be so stinky :)
Tyson is always on our minds and in our hearts and Punch by no means is to replace him, never could, but he definately takes the edge off the pain and fills our days with laughter so that is a good thing. I hope he gorws up to be almost as great a dog as Tyson was.

Joeys Mum, I hope someday soon you can get another little boxer and give him a great home like you did for Joey, there is a little boxer out there somewhere waiting on you to get him when the time is right for you.
I remember you lost your boy the day after we lost ours, so I know how you are feeling right now. I think of you also especially at night when i find it hardest without tyson, i know you are feeling the same.

Thank you everyone for all your posts of kind words and advice and Im sure i will be here all the time looking for more advise on one thing or another throughout Punch's life.
Love to you all
Maria
