I just bought my Hunnie a few days ago, and Im a little worried. Since I have brought her home, she has had a sad face ever since, and she wants to do is sleep, Im scared she is depressed or sick. When I take her out for a walk in the morning and evening, she does not want to walk, but after about 5 min of hasseling she ill walk for a quite a while with me, and if I get too far ahead of her, she will even run after me. So that makes me happy. Her gums and tongue are pink, her teeth are white. When I got the certificate for her, it says her Fecal Test came back positive and she was "Dewormed with pyranyel: Coccidia". Once she starts to move around she is cool, but to get her moving is a mission. She is drinking alot and I mean alot of water. and is eating about a cup of dry food in the morning and a cup in the evening. I am very very worried, that I may be doing something wrong, or maybe im asking too much. Her paper state she is 2 months, but I put her next to my friend which is 3 months and he towered over her, so maybe she is younger than posted. She get cold ver easily. She pees fine and does her dumping fine(it is a medium brown, and wet, but not too much). She is on dry food. She just had a few shots 2 1/2 days ago, so maybe this is a reaction to it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you

I assume you have taken her into your vet for a check-up.

Who did the deworming & fecal? Coccidia generally has to be treated for several days.

Remember, its a new enviroment for her and she must have time to adjust. Puppies generally do sleep alot. I would recommend feeding her at least 3 times per day though.

Could depression be the case? The doctor who did the de-worming is the one the one that puppy store gave me a free vet visit to. I did not know it takes serveral days. Is it ok to give her warm milk with a little baby formula?

They should have sent you home with the remaining medicine for the coccidia.

NO!!!!! Do NOT give her MILK!!!!!!!!! It will give her the runs!!

Take her to your own vet ASAP also for a visit.

Just be prepared...she will break with kennel cough. Any puppy I have ever seen come from a petstore has kennel cough and coccidia. (many have other intestional parasites also along with other health ailments).

Take Sabrina Jay's advice! I am not an expert on raising puppies. However, I have a pup myself (although I did not get her from the Pet Store) and had been doing research on how to raise a Boxer puppy for 9 months or so before I was actually able to bring Lael home. Therefore, I wanted to give you some of my reactions to your post to help you at all if I can. (Someone please correct me if any of my responses are wrong.)

When I take her out for a walk in the morning and evening,
If she really is two months old, she does not need to walk like this 2x a day. Generally, very young puppies need a LOT of sleep, and their play times are good exercise for them. I suggest going to a book store and picking up a book about how to raise a happy & healthy Boxer. Usually the author will give you step-by-step help on how to raise a young Boxer puppy.
She is drinking alot and I mean alot of water. and is eating about a cup of dry food in the morning and a cup in the evening.
What are you feeding her? That's a lot of food for an 8 week old pup. And I would feed her 3x/day. When you see the vet soon, tell him/her how much water she is drinking to see if she is in a normal range.
Her paper state she is 2 months, but I put her next to my friend which is 3 months and he towered over her, so maybe she is younger than posted.
I wouldn't compare this way. Yes, a 3 month old will "tower" over a 2 month old. However, if you got her from a Pet Store, it is very likely that her "papers" are not completely accurate.
She get cold ver easily...She just had a few shots 2 1/2 days ago, so maybe this is a reaction to it.
Why is she cold? Is her bed near a drafty door or window? My vet told me that a slight fever may occur after vaccinations, but no longer than 24 hours later.

My suggestion? Get educated on how to raise your puppy. You have a very young pup who's had a rough start in life (in the pet store) and NEEDS YOU. You need to find out as much as you can. Firstly, take Sabrina Jay's word and find a vet close by and take your puppy!! If she is not properly vaccinated or is sick, you will have a tragedy on your hands.

I wish you the best.

I feel I need to apologize for such a presumptuous comment. You have probably done your homework before getting your puppy. I certainly don't mean to presume that you haven't done some research. Obviously you found a wonderful source of information in BoxerWorld!

The point I was trying to make is something I had to learn myself before getting Lael: the best thing we can do for our dogs is to educate ourselves as much as we can on how to care for them. They are absolutely dependent on us for food, shelter, love & healthcare. We do become dependent on them as companions, but not to the same level.

Again, I apologize if my comment offended you. I felt that I needed to clarify my intention.

the quote to raise a puppys is a great idea, especially since she came from a pet store, but unfortunately she was Anemic, and I was told there was nothing I could do to save her, because she was in really bad condition, the pet store apologized because they were not aware of the dogs condition, and I was able to get a BEagle, which I have named "Sugar".

That is so sad about your puppy. Are you saying the vet said there was nothing they could do to save her? That is so sad.
That is why puppy mills and pet stores should be banned! I hope you didnt get the beagle from the store. I would have gotten all of my money back and told them to stop buying from puppymills! Urg

The owner is making a "last stand" to see if there is any way he can go around it, and not put her down, he has the financil resources to do it, I do not. But I am keeping in touch with the guy. There is a small chance that I may get her back, if everything turns out ok, I became so attatched to her. I went and got a beagle instead, and I call her Sugar, and beleive me she is sweeeeeeeet.
