No chance of leaving him with his mother and littermates until 8 weeks old? Seriously, it is far far better for his health and development not to be deprived of that time. That period is when puppies learn to play, about bite inhibition and (importantly) how to accept discipline. If you don't let him learn that naturally, you're going to have to find a way to teach him yourself. To put it in perspective - animal welfare legislation in quite a few countries including the UK makes it illegal for a breeder to sell a pup before 8 weeks, that's how important that period is. So if you can do it, I would strongly recomend leaving him an extra week.
As for whether or not you can take him to work - depends on what/where work is. What he needs to avoid until he has finished his puppy vaccinations (not just the 8 week shots) is contact with other dogs unless you know for certain that they are up to date on all their shots and are healthy. Until he's finished his vacs, he is at risk of catching kennel cough and parvovirus in particular, which aren't necessarily a big deal for adults but are commonly fatal to puppies. So it is also important to avoid the faeces of other dogs, and public places where dogs commonly defacate in particular, as both those diseases are highly contagious.
If work is an office without other dogs, it shouldn't be a problem. Actually a good idea even - at 6.5 weeks he wouldn't be able to hold his bladder for any longer than 2 hours, so having him somewhere where you can take him out to potty (not anywhere other dogs do) regularly would be helpful.
