I'm not sure if this goes here but I have a question about wood chips. Marcus loves going outside and I would spend more time with him out there but he is a pain in the neck when it comes to eating the wood chips and pine needles. He is only 9 weeks old and I know he's a baby but I am concerned that the wood chips will cause a blockage. He doesn't listen to me because we are just starting basic training. Any advice would be helpful!

When Zoey was that young, she used to come to work with me everyday. I have a fake potted Fig tree in my office (wretched thing!), and I started noticing her chewing on something...
I finally realised they were the red decorative rocks used as 'potting soil' for the plant. They were soft and they cracked and crumbled in her mouth
I had to work really hard watching her and saying 'NO', then giving her something else to play/chew(I didn't get any work done for days!). Thats going to be rough if it's your backyard, though! You'll just have to be extra vigilint with him, and bring lots of other toys & you to keep him occupied.

Keep sweeping his mouth out. Wood chips and pine needles are not good for him. Just like a kid you have to take everything away form them.

UPDATE- Marcus was outside today at around 5:40pm and was up to his old tricks of taking the wood chips and trying to eat them  I decided enough was enough and gave him a time out on the deck and after we went in to start dinner. At 6:40pm noticed he was acting a little weird and he came over and laid on my lap and drenched it with his drool:confused: I know boxers are droolers but I didn't think it came on that quickly. My dh said to call the vet because he also pooped 3 times in a matter of 4 minutes:confused: I called and described the symptoms and as I was talking to the vet he threw up 2 times:eek: I rushed him over to the vet and the did xrays and said the saw a small mass sitting at the bottom of his stomach. She has put him on pills to help the vomiting and loose stools and also put him on a wet diet to try to pass the rest of whats in there. She said she can't tell for sure if it will work or if he'll need to be opened to get it out:(He is going to sleep in our room tonight and hopefully he'll be better tomorrow. I'll keep you posted tomorrow.
