Boxers are better paired male/female. There are several threads out there that discuss the issues that can arise when you pair same-sex Boxers.

Although, as some have said, it *can* work. It all depends on the personalities of the two dogs.

My female was given up by her previous owner, because of severe female fighting between Maddie (at 12 months)and the owner's other female Boxer (a 5 year old). When Maddie was a puppy, all was well. However, as Maddie grew out of puppyhood, she became more dominant and challenged the older (also dominant) female. They had to be permanently seperated after many horrible fights, and both dogs still have the scars to show for it.

You might do a search on this topic, and gather some information on same-sex pairings.

Good luck, and congrats on your newest addition!

It's really not just boxers that do better with male/female pairing..it's all dogs. It is also with different breeds in the house ...female lab and female boxer....

This is not to say you could NEVER have 2 females but you'd have to be very knowledgeable at training and in for some stubborn days from the both of them.

Mavie I'm happy the lady found you! You are the little pups angel!! I'm also happy the lady tried to find a dog lover (and a boxer owner, at that!!) instead of just taking the pup to the spca or abandoning it. Cheers to her admitting her mistake and taking care of it the right way for the pup!!!\
Congratulations on your new addition!!!

I've found some good deals at Wal-Mart, but that has to be the best ever. I think I'm going to go hang out in the pet section at my Wal-mart!
 , good one Reno!!!!

Congrads on your new baby! I had two males that got along great. I have read that females have more problems than males though, fingers crossed that all goes well!

update

well as of today all is well between the two girls lylah is 11 months old and paris is 3 months old... i hope things continue along this path... lylah is more submissive it seems... and paris is a little more dominate (i think) hard to tell at her age... the will both roll over on their backs for each other at different times.. so i am not quite sure just yet... right now they play fight and growl and romp and play but no serious fights or anything... they do play tug of war with their ropes and things.. lylah usually wins lol but paris puts up a good fight.. so for now i think lylah is the alpha i will keep everyone posted on how this all works out..thanks so much for all the replies and send us boxer prayers that everything goes great and the girls always get along... thanks so much once again..... boxer hugs to all the great people here at bw
