Update!!
So we had our house visit yesterday and it was immediately clear what a beautiful girl Lola is. She sniffed around and checked everyone out and proceeded to give lots of kisses to my kids and then us. She was so sweet to the kids and so very relaxed around them. Not nervous at all, even when my 16m daughter was screaming and laughing (and lots of clapping) with joy. Lola just stood there and gave more kisses.
Well - if you didn't already guess - we just had to adopt her. She's such a joy to have. She's already used to her crate and with a little guidance and a schedule, she'll be 100% housebroken in no time. She already knows to go outside, she just gets a little worried that you're going to leave her out there forever, so she sometimes has accidents on the carpet. So - we're just going to stand out on the porch with her and she goes every time. We're also going to look at bell training her so she can let us know when she wants out.
She didn't want to eat dinner last night, but she had a few bites this morning, so hopefully she'll get her appetite back soon.
She did whine just a bit in her crate last night, but it only took about 2 minutes before she calmed down, and she did go into the crate very willingly, so I think we'll be just fine with that.
Our kids absolutely adore our Lola. My son didn't stop smiling for about 3 hours. He followed her around and she followed him around. Lola is very curious about all the goings on in our house. Every time one of us would leave the room, she'd have to poke her head around the corner to see where we are and if we're okay (and probably if we're coming back too).
I'm sure she'll be just fine with the routine in a week or two. The great thing is that my wife stays home 85% of the time, so there is very minimal crate time during the day. Really only a few hours a week. The rest of the time is family and fun time.
Thank y'all so much for all the information and thoughts on boxers. I hope to have some pictures of her soon and I'll have to figure out how to get the gallery up and working.
