Won't poop outside in nasty weather!

Just wondering if any of you have any solutions to this problem. We adopted our dog about eight months ago from a rescue. She is certainly housetrained--except when it is raining hard outside. I've tried staying out there with her--holding an umbrella over her head, etc. but at some point, I have to come in to get ready for work. When that happens, I know I will have something waiting for me upon my return. It has happened the last four times it has been raining hard. I hate to crate her, because she has not been trained to use one and at this stage in her life, it doesn't seem quite right. Any other suggestions?

LOL! Lily has the same problem! You really have to keep showing them it is ok to go outside. Lily will do both business outside if it is sprinkling but if it is any harder than that, no way! You might try purchasing some jackets, sweatshirts, etc... That helped Lily out tremdously!

When Charlie won't go - even when prompted by 'go on now' which we've used since he was 8 weeks, I put him on a leash and walk him. I don't have to go far - maybe half a block and he'll do his business. It's not the most convienent method but it's a sure thing.

Other than constructing a cover for an area in the yard - I'm not sure what else will work. Most Boxers I know don't like the rain and will only 'go' when someone else is feeling the pain along with them .

We adopted our boxer from a rescue, too. Lizzie lived the first 6 years of her life in a barn so housetraining was a must. She is good about going outside in all kinds of weather, but taking her for a walk always does the trick. Good luck!

Likes the rain

I guess they are all different. Drake actually Loves being outside in the rain and whines to go out. He also love swimming in our pool and is not happy that it is covered now.
